OVERVIEW

The Diocese of Gahini is one of the Dioceses of the Province of the Angli-can Church of Rwanda. It was curved out of the Dioceses of Byumba , and Kibungo to be officially declared mis-sionary and the nineth Diocese in May 1997. The first Bishop, the Rt. Rev Dr Alexis Bilindabagabo was enthroned on 25th may 1997. Though this Diocese was inaugurated in 1997, its mission history dates back as early as 1925 when the first Christian Missionaries came to Rwanda and established a mission station at Gahini and later spread to other areas. Gahini Convention – Annual event averaging 6000 people with great results; 6700 children & youth in Bible study; 1,983 families in Church Community Mobilization Program.

GAHINI HOSPITAL

Mission “Improve the health of the Population through provision of quality services complementary package of activities while ensuring the Supervision of health centers in its area”.

Gahini Hospital is one of two hospitals in Kayonza District, in Eastern Province, Gahini Sector,Urugarama Cell. The Hospital was established in 1927 by Christian (AnglicanChurch),

It supervises 7 Health Centers, which are Gahini HC,Rukara HC, Mukarange HC, Ryamanyoni HC, Nyakabungo HC, uhabwa HC and KageyoHC.

GAHINI REHABILITATION CENTER

GRC is a rehabilitation center that offers comprehensive rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities, especially children, by making an enabling environment for them in such a way such that they can realize their full potential.

Gahini rehabilitation center is recognized as a referral center of excellence offering comprehensive rehabilitation services in Rwanda and in the region

EDUCATION

Over 20,000 students participating in 5 secondary schools, 18 primary schools and 403 teachers working. 15 Early Childhood Development Centers (ECD) with a total of 2,064 kids (CHURCH BASED ECD PROGRAM). 6 community libraries are established in Karangazi , Rukomo, Nyagatare, Kabarore and Gakenke and Gahini archdeaconries.
